Photoatlas, Volume 2 is unique in the field in its breadth of inclusion examples, use of full colour photomicrographs, extensive reference section with topographical maps, photographs and detailed descriptions of features, and in its rich Genus section organized around the World Gem Resources Database of world geology and gem occurrence. Each chapter includes a basic section highlighting general characteristics of each type of inclusions. A wealth of colourful inclusion examples, along with inclusions from a variety of host materials, appear in the companion reference section of the respective chapters. Photomicrographs are presented in full colour and include detailed scale bars and field lines to depict the different size, type and shape of inclusions. A detailed explanation of the included morphology and other associated physical features are also provided.
Photoatlas, Volume 2 is specially designed for both practising gemologists and amateur gem enthusiasts interested in this subject. Most important, it is the only work recognized by the Association of Gemological Laboratories (AGL) with inclusions as a separate discipline. It covers the most important microstructures encountered in gem identification, and if time or space limitations (such as in a laboratory education) prevent students from learning about them, this work provides a suitable reference.
Photoatlas, Volume 2 can be ordered in trade channels as is but it cannot be sold by itself as it is the only product that is recognized as a qualification examination in this discipline, preferably in an accompanying Student's Gemology Course textbook. d2c66b5586
